Funk Fu

Founded in 2017 by guitarist Tilen Gavranovič in Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia, Funk Fu has grown into an international funk, pop, jazz, and R&B collective, bringing together a diverse group of international musicians.

At the core of the 8-piece band are guitarist Tilen Gavranovič and vocalist Klara Veteršek, the principal songwriters behind most of Funk Fu’s original music and lyrics.

Since its formation, the band has released a number of successful singles and steadily built its presence on the Slovenian music scene. In 2017, Funk Fu won the Imamo Novo Glasbo competition, supported by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture and RTV Slovenia, earning the opportunity to record their debut single, “Obraz.”

In 2021, their song “Skica” won the Radio Standouts competition, standing out among hundreds of submissions. The track was recorded at Radio SI and received regular radio airplay. Several Funk Fu songs have also been featured as Song of the Week on radio stations including Radio Terminal, Radio Velenje, Radio Marš, and Radio Ormož.

To celebrate its sixth anniversary, Funk Fu released its debut album, It’s All Fun and Games, in June 2023, featuring 10 original tracks. In 2024, the band received the prestigious Student DownBeat Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Pop/Blues/R&B category, recognizing the artistic quality of their debut album and further establishing Funk Fu as one of the region’s exciting emerging acts.

Jakomini Jazz Trio

Jakomini Jazz Trio is a young ensemble founded in 2020 on the initiative of trumpeter Žan Cesar, guitarist Tilen Gavranovič, and double bassist Jernej Vindšnurer. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 restrictions, the trio managed to meet and begin rehearsing, quickly developing their musical identity.

Initially, the group focused on performing jazz standards, but soon discovered that their unique sound inspired them to explore original compositions. This creative direction led to the release of their debut album, Searchin’, in 2022. The album was presented on tour across Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria, where the trio received an enthusiastic response from audiences and recognition from both professional musicians and general listeners alike.

In 2023, the trio took a step forward by inviting talented young vocalist Tanja Filipović to join the project. Her voice brought a fresh dimension to the ensemble’s sound, further expanding their musical expression and artistic direction.

Delavnica Jazza in Zabavne Glasbe Zagorje

Tilen Gavranovič and Luka Jahn, both founders of the Glasbeno Kulturno Društvo Funk Fu, came up with the idea of organizing a workshop in their hometown, Zagorje ob Savi, called Delavnica Jazza in Zabavne Glasbe, aimed at young and emerging musicians.

The workshop will take place for the first time on 1st and 2nd July 2026 and will feature a range of established Slovenian musicians who will teach improvisation in jazz and popular music.
