About Tilen Gavranovič

International guitarist, composer, arranger and educator

Biography

Tilen Gavranovič is a guitarist, composer, arranger and educator who completed his Master’s degree in jazz guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where he studied under Guido Jeszenszky. He further developed his musical education at the PSPBB in Paris with Romain Pilon, as well as through numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians.

As an educator, he teaches both classical and electric guitar and has gained several years of experience working at music institutions in Austria.

Artistically, he is active as both a bandleader and member of several ensembles, including Funk Fu, Jakomini Jazz Trio, and Gavro Quartet. With these groups, he regularly performs at renowned festivals and concert venues in Slovenia and abroad, contributing to contemporary jazz and original music projects.

As a composer and arranger, he has participated in the release of several albums, including It’s All Fun and Games (Funk Fu, 2023), Searchin’ (Jakomini Jazz Trio, 2022), and Let’s Wait and See (Gavro Quartet, 2024). As a sideman, he also contributed to the EP Bluesbag by Jim Rotondi, while continuing to collaborate on projects by other artists.

His artistic work is further marked by collaborations with established musicians such as Alex Sipiagin, Jim Rotondi, Jure Pukl, Marko Črnčec, Robin Eubanks and others.

For his artistic achievements, he has received several awards, including the Student DownBeat Award for outstanding accomplishments in popular and jazz music.
